Obtain a Hosting Service

A host "rents" space on their web servers so other people can view the web pages that make up your site.

Your web host will have a connection to the DNS (Domain Name Service) so when a person types in your domain name the request gets routed to the server where your site is being hosted.

There are thousands of hosting services available. A simple search on the Web (for example: web hosting comparisons) will give you lots of options.

I've been using http://qualityhostonline.com for over five years with excellent luck. Their hosting plans start at $1.50/month although I would recommend starting with a Personal Web Site at the Special 3 level so you have enough capabilities to work with.

http://www.qualityhostdomains.com/ - If you set up a hosting site with Quality Host you can purchase the domain at the same time. However, it is good to check for domain name availability before you start the process.

Beware of highly advertised services such as GoDaddy.com. Often, their servers have very strict policies and a lot of tools such as Drupal, a popular CMS (Content Management System) , SugarCRM, and CGI scripts are very difficult to install.
